So here's a colorful draft version of an idea on the topic introduced before.
I would like to introduce a new brandname - founded by Tobias Berger and me two weeks ago. We were checking through old material from election campaigns years ago. Then, we suddenly had the idea to paint signs for an election camp. There will be no party, no election, though. It's all for the purpose of painting itself: lets create signs as art itself.
The program of our fictitious campaign will be "fight the grey". Only after some time did we come up with the mascot on the right and a name <contristesse>.
As I really like this name I am sure to post more material covered by this title. It might take some time, though.
(By common tradition we gave away this exemplar as a gift. You might find it in Cologne some day.)

As I announced previously, this was the last Semester Opening with me. Those three years really meant much to me.

Es ist wirklich eine Ehre zum dritten Mal jetzt dabei sein zu dürfen.
Wir haben selten eine so positive Stimmung erlebt.
There's not much to be said about this painting. I went to use Nicole Heinzels (LINEscapes) techniques to draw and spray a painting showing a form of lemon grass (scientifically: Poaceae) on a black background. Basically, it's just a green foundation with a very thing layer of modelling compound on top and a layer of black paint.
Someone, today called it a reed plant painting, but it was meant to be grass.
Tatsächlich fragte mich Jan nur nach einem Bild für die Einladung des Polterabends, aber das Motiv faszinierte mich zu sehr, um es bei dem einfachen ersten Vorschlag zu belassen. Mit großer Zeichennachhilfe von Lara konnten wir dann eine PC- und Druckversion erstellen, die das Fachschaftsumfeld wohl inzwischen kennt:
Das Konzept lies mich allerdings nicht los und als ich nun endlich nach der Klausurphase wieder Zeit hatte, habe ich eine Leinwandversion erstellt.
Prinzipiell war die Idee den roten Hintergrund für bessere Homogenität zu rollen und mit Modelliermasse einen Hintergrund ("Schatten") für das Paar zu bauen. Diesen Schatten habe ich dann in passendem Blau als Hintergrund frei gesprayt und dann schlussendlich das Paar per Stencil in schwarz übertragen.
Da ich besondere die Modellierung frei Hand tat und nicht genug Zeit hatte, um die Trockung vollständig abzuwarten, ist leider meine erste Version noch stark verbesserungswürdig. Ich lies auch einige Details weg und musste einige Oberflächen nach Fehlern nochmals sprayen, und wie immer haben meine frei modellierten Proportionen das Ziel ein wenig verfehlt ;-).
Trotzdem, hier möchte ich nun eine gesprayte Version und einige Bilder von der Erstellung mit euch teilen und ein wenig Feedback einholen:
Two days ago, I had this idea to create something abstract which at the same time resembles nature (blood vessels, cells, or similar). I started with a simple flat structure and applied green and blue as a basis for a final black cover.
By using a series of twigs I scratched into my dendritic structure into the surface, revealing the white modelling compound. As I waited long enough for the compound to dry and merge with the paint the scratching created a special kind of structure:
In fact, people told me that they liked the paintings of intermediate steps much more than the final image, and so do I. Currently, I am reconsidered a different concept to create a more interesting effect for the red inner structure. There are still ideas and improvements on this ...
